Reception 2026 - 2027

Hello! I’m Miss Lane and I’m so excited to be your Reception teacher! This is my 6th year teaching Reception, and I can honestly say that Early Years is where my heart belongs. I love seeing children’s personalities shine, watching their confidence grow and finding fun and exciting ways to help them learn.

I’m passionate about creating a classroom where everyone feels welcome, included and ready to have fun, with lots of opportunities to learn through play and get a little messy along the way!

When I’m not being a Reception teacher, I’m a HUGE Star Wars fan️, I love building Lego sets and (trying my best) to be a runner! I’m also a big Taylor Swift fan! You’ll often find me listening to Taylor Swift whilst getting ready for the day before we open the classroom doors.

I’m looking forward to a year full of fun, laughter, adventures and lots of learning with our wonderful Reception class. Let’s make some magical memories together!

The Early Years Framework

Your child will follow the DFE (Department for Education) EYFS (Early Years Foiundation Stage) framework and will work towards the final assessment at the nd of the year using the ELGs (Early Learning Goals). These goals are short statements that teachers assess your child against at the end of the year. The 7 main areas of learning are:

• Communication and Language 
• Physical Development
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Literacy
• Mathematics
• Expressive Arts and Design
• Understanding the World

As part of the framework, there is less emphasis on recording paperwork, meaning we, as adults, can spend more time with your child getting to know them and having those quality interactions.
