Funding for the PE and sport premium
Schools receive Sport's premium funding based on the number of pupils in Years 1 to 6.
In cases where schools don’t follow year groups (for example, in some special schools), pupils aged 5 to 10 attract the funding.
In most cases, we determine how many pupils in your school attract the funding using data from the January 2022 school census.
Our aim is to make sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport we provide.
We have used our funding to secure improvements in the following 5 key indicators.
Engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity, for example by:
- providing targeted activities or support to involve and encourage the least active children
- encouraging active play during break times and lunchtimes

Swimming Data July 2024
Our Year 6 children have been exposed to swimming lessons in Year 4, 5 and 6.
- 93% can swim 25 meteres.
- 71% can use a range of effective strokes.
- 71% can do a safe self-rescue.
- 64% have achieved the expected National Curriculum standard.
